The idea for DoubleKick came during a typical lunch hour of a typical day at the office. I needed a pick-me-up, but I didn't want a soda, energy drink or coffee. I wondered, "Why isn’t there something with caffeine that I could put directly on my food.”
Since hot sauce is my favorite topping, it became the obvious choice. With help from over-caffeinated techie co-workers and foodie friends I met during years working in restaurants in Los Angeles, I came up with a recipe that utilizes chilies, ginger and caffeine to kick food coma to the curb.
I think it combines the best of California's flavors and culture. I'd love to hear what you think.
